Tasa 790 012: how to fill it in and pay it

What it is

The tasa modelo 790 código 012 is the form used to pay for immigration and documentation procedures. For the TIE you must bring it already paid to the fingerprint appointment: the comisaría does not take payment, it only checks the receipt.

Where to generate it

On the National Police electronic office, in the fees section. You fill the form in on screen, download it as a PDF and print it. No digital certificate is needed just to generate it.

Which box to tick

This is where almost everyone goes wrong. The form has several options and you must tick the one matching your specific procedure: TIE documenting the authorisation is not the same as EU citizen registration certificate, and paying the wrong box means paying again. If your residence decision names the type of authorisation, copy it literally.

How to pay

• At a bank, with the printed form, at any participating branch. They stamp the copy for the interested party: that is the one you bring.
• By card from the electronic office, if you have a digital certificate or Cl@ve. It produces a receipt with an NRC code, which also works.

Bring the receipt on paper even if you paid online. A phone screen is not always accepted, and arguing about it at the counter costs you the appointment.

What it costs

The amount is updated every year and depends on the procedure: an initial card and a renewal do not cost the same. The form shows the current amount once you select the type, so do not trust figures circulating on forums: read what the form says on the day you generate it.

Mistakes that cost you the appointment

1. Paying the wrong box. The money does not transfer between categories: you pay again and claim the first one back.
2. Bringing only the administration’s copy. The form has several copies; bring them all.
3. Paying too early. The fee has a validity period, and one paid a year ago may not be accepted.
